This type of breastplate was typical of the Spanish armoury in the 16th century and was mainly worn by foot soldiers.
This steel armour is enhanced by riveted brass plates surrounding an oval relief emblem in the center of the breastplate. The relief emblem is that of the coat-of-arms for the Castilla & Leon region of Spain and is accompanied by two fleur de lis, one on either side.
